Advent "virtual" Family Event

We were so sad that we were not able to meet in person for our Advent Family Event but happy that you're joining us for it virtually.  We hope you will find the activities and lessons meaningful during this advent season and that your holidays are filled with Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.

Below you will find attachments and videos that will help you along.  Some of you may have received a bag of everything you need.  For those that haven't and want to participate fully in all the crafts you can also find a list of everything you need.

Week One: Hope

Below you will find our week one lesson about Hope.  We wait for the birth of the baby Jesus and with that we are given hope.  The craft is an advent calendar.  It'll help us count down until the birth of Jesus and give us the opportunity to serve others along the way.

Week Two: Peace

A song of Peace
Here's everything you need to know about peace.  Well not everything... if only it was that easy.  What scares you and what do you do when your worried or scared?  Take some time and talk about the Peace that comes with Jesus.  Make a Christmas ornament and hang it on your tree and have it be a reminder of the Peace that came with the baby Jesus.

Week Three: Joy

Joy to the world the Lord has come.  The wise men were pretty excited about the birth of a baby that would become a King.  They were filled with joy and had to travel to see him.  How can you spread joy?  One way is to make some oh so yummy cookies.  This week make some yummy buttery Sugar Cookies and share them with a neighbor or a friend.  There's two sticks of butter in this recipe so you know it's good.

Week Four: Love

A Song of Love
God so loved the world that God gave us Jesus.  To come and live among us and show us the way.  What great love that is.  Fast forward to Easter and the love shown there too is amazing, but we'll stick with the Christmas story for now.  This week we're thinking about all those that we love.  This is your chance to write an acrostic.  An acrostic is a poem using the letters of someone's name.  Take some time and think about your loved ones and the love of God.
Lesson
