July 23rd - 28th 2023

We're excited to be offering a Youth Boundary Waters Trip again the summer of 2023.

This year we hope to get a BWCA permit in the heart of moose country north of Grand Marais.  The hope it to be able to enter on Poplar Lake and head south from there and explore the chain of lakes between Poplar and Horseshoe.  There will be lots of opportunity for fun and adventure along the way.

We'll travel to the north shore leaving Sunday morning July 23rd.  After spending the night at Bethlehem Lutheran church in Grand Marais we'll head up to our entry point.  A more detailed packing list will be provided after signups close and we start making our final preparations but we will get our canoes from an outfitter on the Gunflint trail and other camping essentials will be provided as well.

We'll spend three nights in the BWCA before paddling out and staying one additional night in Grand Marais Thursday July 27th.  Most of the meals will be provided.  Money will be needed for meals while traveling to and from Grand Marais.

Cost for trip is $200 for those involved in the ministry at Grace and $300 for those outside of Grace.

We will be doing some fundraisers leading up to the trip that help keep the cost of the trip lower.

If you would like to talk more about the trip before signing up you can reach out to Ben at DSG@gracemankato.org or 507-524-3254

A meeting will be scheduled later in January before permits become available

SPACE IS LIMITED!.

"For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ."
2 Corinthians 4:6
Families came together at Grace to carve pumpkins together in the fellowship hall.  Mask were worn and physical distancing guidelines were followed and a good time was had by all.  Along with getting together and having a great time we followed a devotional that went along with the pumpkin carving.  You can find the devotional below.  We even had a visit from local news station KEYC who did a story about the event.  You can check that out below also.

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these."
Luke 12:27
As a group we took a trip out to Valley Veggies which is just a little ways out of Mankato and built our own bouquets from the field of flowers they had available.  It was a great time and we were able to make some beautiful arrangements.  We were also able to have communion as a group and a family bouquet devotional was provided.  Check out the devotional by clicking he link below
